Late summer of 2019, Niki got another DUI.
I was home making something to eat for dinner when I received a call from the State Police.
Me: “Hello?”
Trooper: ” Hi, am I speaking with Mr. Patrick Cummings? “
Me: “Yes”
Trooper: “I’m here with Niki Cummings, is that your wife?”
Me: “Yes”
Trooper: “We picker her up on Market Street. She was speeding in excess of 100 MPH, and blew three times the legal limit. She is being charged with a DUI, speeding and reckless driving.
Me: “Ok” < sounding not surprised.
Me: “Can I pick up her car?”
Trooper: “Yes but we are bringing her home. Are you living at xx address?”
Me: “Yes”
The troopers arrived at around 8 PM that evening.
Niki was still very drunk and being beligerent toward the police.
The troopers explained how Niki was slurring, crying and acting very intoxicated. They provided the location of her car for which, myself and her daughter needed to pick up before it was impounded.
Niki lost her license but did not stop driving.
Niki continued to drink before driving and literally while driving. We often find Vodka bottles under her seat.
We confront her about this all the time. A long and tiring argument ensues each time. It’s exhausting.
