Niki’s son played little league during the 2019 and 2020 seasons.
This was all new for him. He was having fun socializing with other kids his age. It was a blast watching him get his first hit.
The sad part:
There were several games where his mom would show up drunk. On one occasion she showed up with her Hoe friend Miranda. Niki was very drunk, waving back and forth as she could not stand well. In the family we call this, “Leaning.” When Niki starts to lean forward and to the side, we all know that she id drunk.
Niki stood behind the dugout and yelled at her son for not paying attention. She slurred her words and people could see that she was obviously drunk.
Her son became very upset. I drove him home that day. He stated that he no longer wanted to play baseball. I asked why. His answer was not a shock. He was embarrassed that his mom would show up drunk to the games and his friends and parents noticed.
He no longer plays baseball.
This is really sad. He was enjoying baseball. It was new and exciting for him.
